Find a Great Job at the L.A. Camp Fair

Much of our time posting on this blog is spent sharing and discussing the wide variety of summer camp opportunities for kids here in L.A. 

Lately we've spent a great deal of time explaining the value of attending the L.A. Camp Fair, a series of three live events and venue locations in March and April where you can meet and interact with over 100 camp directors and staff, ask questions, pick up free brochures and other promotional materials and learn about their programs. 

The wide impression most families have about the Camp Fair is that its primary purpose is to help parents find the best summer camp fit for their kids this year.

That's completely true -- families looking for a camp are going to find a wide variety of options at the Camp Fair. 

But what about college kids and others who might be looking for a great summer job as a camp counselor this year? The Camp Fair is for you, too!

College Students Make Great Camp Counselors!

If there's one thing we've noticed through the years involved in the camp business, it's that college students often make the best camp counselors! ​

Of course, it's hard work, and not for everyone. On the other hand, being a camp counselor is one of the best summer jobs in the world and something everyone should do at least once.  What could be better than working outside with other people your age while playing and supervising kids all summer and participating in fun activities?  Being a camp counselor is like being a grown-up kid, not to mention you get paid for it!

Meet Over 60 Summer Camp Employers on Sunday, March 11 at the UCLA L.A. Summer Camp Fair

On Sunday, March 11 at UCLA there will be a summer camp expo taking place where over 60 camp representatives will be taking to families about their available summer camp options for kids.

It's important to note this isn't a formal job fair, but at the same time, if you're looking for a summer job, it's an opportunity you won't want to miss because you can introduce yourself to the various camp directors and to learn about possible job opportunities.

Now, just a quick-heads up.

Camp folks are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, But while visiting the various camp booths, please be considerate and cognizant of the fact the camp's main priority for attending the camp fair is to recruit new campers.  As long as they have little extra time and aren't talking with parents, they should certainly be happy to speak with you about available job opportunities this summer.

The Camp Fair takes place Sunday, March 11 at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center on the campus of UCLA. The address is 111 Easton Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90024.  Admission is free, but you might want to grab a free ticket ahead of time just in case.
