Summer camps can provide a fun and enriching experience for children and teenagers. From sports and outdoor adventure to the arts and academics, there is a wide range of camps available to suit every interest and ability.
Here are some of the best summer camps to consider:
No matter what type of camp you choose, it's important to do your research and find a camp that is reputable and has a track record of providing a safe and enjoyable experience for campers. Reading reviews and talking to other parents can be a great way to learn more about different camps and find the right one for your child. But do you want to know the very best way to research camps? Attend the LA Camp Fair events at UCLA and Calabasas on March 11 and 12. The Camp Fairs are a perfect opportunity for your family to learn about the different types of camps available and meet the camp representatives who run the programs. You can ask questions, get free brochures and learn about all the various camp opportunities here in L.A. under one roof. This year the L.A. Camp Fairs take place: You can expect to see at least 40 or 50 camps exhibiting at each Camp Fair. Camp Wildcraft is a Program You Won't Want to Miss Campers who enjoy art and nature will want to make a point of attending the Calabasas Camp Fair April 4. That's because one particular program that specializes in this type of thing will be on display. The camp is called Camp Wildcraft and it's definitely a camp for kids who crave a summer camp experience involving learning, friendship and fun.
At Camp Wildcraft, campers develop into creative, curious, confident & caring kids who feel at home in nature. The have two different sites -- one at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas and another at The Sycamore School in Malibu. Every day at camp your child will make friends, take hikes, create big, mixed-media art projects, paint and draw, sculpt in wood and clay, sketch in their handmade nature journals, do theatre, build forts, play together with wild freedom and much more. So, please make a point of stopping by Camp Wildcraft's booth at the Camp Fair. You can get free tickets to the event here. But there is just one more thing to be aware of if you're considering Camp Wildcraft for your child this summer. The camp is small by design, so space is limited. If you like what you see about Camp Wildcraft at the Camp Fair, sign up as soon as you can to ensure your child's spot. It's always easier to find a great camp when you're able to compare lots of them together all at once. And the best way to learn about many different camps all in one place is by attending a summer camp fair. You're probably familiar with a wedding expos or food show where you can visit individual booths to learn about all the different vendors' products and services. The wedding expo might have lots of different D.J's and florists displaying their wares, for example, while the food expo might have different cupcakes, breads, and other various items you can sample by visiting all the various booths. Camp Fairs are similar events, except instead of food or wedding vendors, summer camps are on display instead. That means you can go booth-to-booth meeting various camp directors in person and learning about their programs. You can get free brochures and ask questions, and your kids can sample different activities camps might be offering at their respective booths. It's kind of like a Farmer's Market, but for summer camps instead! Join us Saturday, April 4 for L.A. Camp Fair's Agoura Hills/Calabasas Summer Camp Expo If your family lives in Agoura Hills or the surrounding community and you want to find the best camp program for your child this summer, don't miss L.A. Last year the folks at L.A. Camp Fair organized three amazing camp fair events at UCLA, in Calabasas, and in Thousand Oaks, respectively. We understand they will be doing the same thing again (and perhaps adding one or two additional events) in late winter/early spring of 2019. To stay apprised of the latest L.A. Camp Fair announcements and developments, keep reading this blog and follow us on twitter. We'll announce the new information as soon as we get it! The UCLA Camp Fair's Behind Us. Next Up, Conejo Valley and Calabasas Camp Fairs Next Month!3/15/2018 The most gratifying part of our job is when we're able to provide information families can use to find amazing summer programs for their kids. This past weekend we held a summer camp expo at UCLA where over 1,000 people showed up to meet camp representatives from over 60 day camps and sleepaway camps to find their right camp for their children. By all accounts it was successful in every way. Here's a quote from Ken F., a Los Angeles resident who attended last Sunday's UCLA Camp Fair with his family: "The L.A. Camp Fair at UCLA was a win-win for our family. My wife, son-in-law and most important 11 yr old grandson came away with plenty of insight into the vast world of camping. From robots to fencing to sports, to stand-up comedy, to language immersion, to water, land and plenty more activities we have so many options to review. Thanks to you and your staff the show was well organized and upbeat from the moment we were greeted at the door to the reps behind the camp tables. The enthusiasm of adults and kids was palpable throughout the venue. Congrats on a superb effort." Please note, we're not showing you Ken's description of the UCLA camp fair to pat ourselves on the back. Far from it, and quite the opposite in fact. Instead we wanted you to see how valuable attending a Camp Fair can be as a resource to help you find a great camp, and more specifically, so you mark your calendars for our next two upcoming Camp Fair events in Thousand Oaks on April 14 and Calabasas April 22, respectively.

We had a GREAT time at last Sunday's L.A. Camp Fair at UCLA! These families got to meet and interact with camp representatives from 62 amazing day camps, overnight camps, and every other kind of camp and summer program you can imagine. We are so happy to be able to match up so many families with so many wonderful programs. Meet Camp Staff From Young Set Club and Other Traditional Summer Programs at L.A. Camp Fair 20181/18/2018 Many families view specialty camps as all the rage, but L.A. has its fair share of traditional summer camp camps, too. In fact these types of programs have been a staple for Los Angeles children to enjoy every summer for years. One such program is Young Set Club.
For over 30 years, Young Set Club has provided a hands-on experience where campers choose from a variety of activities, have opportunity to progressively build skills, and gain a sense of belonging. Their camp leaders -- their counselors and staff -- build a culture that encourages everyone to help each other become more creative and thrive in a fun and supportive camp environment. Young set club is a traditional summer day camp located in Thousand Oaks. To learn more about the Young Set Club's program and meet their staff in person, come to the L.A. Camp Fair on Saturday, April 14 at Conejo Creek North Park. Not only will you meet representatives from Young Set Club, there will be many other excellent camps and programs who operate summer camps in Los Angeles just like theirs for you to discover. That's why we're sponsoring L.A. Camp Fair 2018. The L.A. Camp Fair is a huge, 3-day summer camp expo taking place at three convenient locations throughout greater the Los Angeles area in March and April. What Exactly is a Summer Camp Fair... and What Exactly is L.A. Camp Fair 2018?
You've probably been to various expos in the past where companies, people, or organizations in a single industry come together in a hotel, meeting room, dining hall, gymnasium, park, etc. to exhibit their offerings for consumers.
Wedding, bridal, tattoo, food, boat, auto, and so many other similar examples of various expos come to mind. And that's just what Camp Fair 2018 will be like -- collection of over 75 summer camps and programs assembling in one place to exhibit their program offerings, answer all your questions, and give you the opportunity to meet them in person to better assist you in finding the ideal camp for your child this summer. At many Camp Fairs, including L.A. Camp Fair 2018, many of the camps and programs will be doing live exhibitions and demonstrations of their actual camp activities so your child can a great idea of what actually takes place at camp. There will also be games and activities for the kids plus food, prizes and raffles where you could win free camp sessions from participating camps. Why Should We Attend the L.A. Camp Fair?
Several reasons, really. One of the main ones is that with so many camps on display all in one place, you're bound to find at least of few programs that catch your child's interest.
Visiting so many different programs at the same time is also quite convenient for you -- a huge time-saver compared to calling or emailing all the different camps to learn more about their programs one by one. The other element of attending a Camp Fair many parents love is the opportunity to meet the camp counselors, directors and staff first hand. In many cases, families sign-up for summer camps sight-unseen and basically need to trust their gut they've picked the right program. But at the Camp Fair, you can meet the camp staff ahead of time first-hand. Making this personal connection in advance is a great way to get a personal feel for the people who you're entrusting your kids to this year. It's a fantastic opportunity to see which camps make a good first impression which, as we all know, means a lot. Where at the Three L.A. Camp Fair Dates and Locations for 2018?
With three convenient dates and locations throughout L. A. and the Valley, you are bound to find an L.A. Camp Fair close to you. Attending the event most convenient (proximity-wise) to you is an ideal way to meet over 50 or 60 camps.
However, just a quick FYI: attending all three Camp Fairs is the only way to guarantee you'll see all of the participating camps without missing any. That's because not all of the camps are attending all three events, in other words, some of the programs are only attending one or two. So if you're interested in seeing every exhibiting program you might consider attending all three events. It's totally up to you to decide how many of the Camp Fairs you'll attend this year. We've spoken with parents who are coming to just one, other parents who are coming to two, and others who are coming to all three. Meanwhile, here are the details for the three L.A. • L.A. Camp Fair Event #2: Saturday, April 14 at Conejo Creek North Park, Thousand Oaks
