1. Adventures in Writing Summer Camp - Calabasas
Your child will have lots of fun at this two-week day camp program while improving their writing skills and enjoying the process of writing itself. One parent even said her child preferred sitting down at his desk to tackle a creative writing project rather than playing video games all day after attending this camp ... a victory for families everywhere! But don't let the idea this is somewhat of an academic camp spook you. There's all kinds of fun and recreational activities available at Adventures in Writing, too. For example, campers enjoy lots of performing arts activities such as singing, rapping, dancing, music, improv, and, of course, like any good program, making new friends. At the conclusion of their camp session, kids make an e-book, blog, video or podcasts. Quite a feeling of accomplishment to come away with something tangible you made at camp and will certainly remember forever. This camp takes place at Chaparral Elementary School in Calabasas.
2. Aloha Beach Camp
One of the most popular day camps for Calabasas kids, Aloha Beach Camp is a top destination for campers to escape the valley heat and enjoy a safe and fun beach camp experience complete with surfing lessons, boogie boarding instruction, ocean swimming lessons, jet skiing and cool ocean breezes all summer long. No prior beach, ocean or aquatic experience is needed because the program is completely instructional. Campers from every aquatic background, beginning to advanced, can enjoy the camp safely. You can customize your child's own attendance schedule, too, by signing up for camp day-by-day whenever you want with no advance sessions or minimum enrollment days to conform to. Even 1-day enrollments are fine if you just want to try the program to see how your child likes it. Free transportation provided with a convenient pick-up and drop off spot at the Boiling Crab.

An ideal program for kids and teens, campers can swim, play tennis, and enjoy many sports, games and activities while making lots of friends. Given the extreme popularity of this program among local families -- and considering they only have a limited number of enrollment slots available -- we suggest you register as soon as possible before the camp sells out. 6. Camp Keystone
Technically based in Agoura, hundreds of Calabasas kids attend Camp Keystone every summer and love every minute. One thing that makes Camp Keystone unique is spectacular facility. Their beautiful rustic campsite is just the type of place you might remember going to camp to as a child yourself. The camp's huge water slide, leading into a large swimming pool, is often the highlight of every child's session, especially on hot summer days. We've personally met the owner, Larry Klein, on several occasions and he's very personable and approachable guy (just the way camp directors should be!), so if you have any questions about the Keystone program don't hesitate to reach out. Camp Keystone also offers transportation service for an extra fee.

7. Cey Hey Baseball Camp
Cey Hey Baseball Camp takes place at Calabasas High School. So it's no surprise the camp is operated by some of the Calabasas High School baseball coaches. If the phrase, "Cey Hey" sounds familiar, it should. One of the Cey Hey camp directors is Dan Cey, former Dodger great Ron Cey's son. (Dan is the head varsity baseball coach at Calabasas High.) Campers who want to improve their baseball skills from hitting to fielding to base running should not hesitate to sign up for this program. Campers win prizes and also get to take photos and autographs from Ron Cey himself during the summer.
