Got Game Camp is One of L.A.'s Top Summer Day Camps, Owned and Operated by Coach Korey Kalman
But let's face it, finding a great camp isn't always that easy. Kids can be fickle and like different things. Not to mention there's so many summer programs in greater L.A. it's hard to even know where to start looking.
So finding the perfect summer camp can be a challenge. But what if we told you we may have found the perfect day camp right here in L.A. for your kids? Today might just be your lucky day!
Meet "Coach K"We want to introduce you to Korey Kalman - or "Coach K," as he's known to his campers - and his Got Game Camp with multiple locations throughout Greater L.A. including its flagship location at Hancock Park Elementary School. When we sat down to speak with Coach K, we were impressed by his calm, laid-back demeanor and dedication to providing outstanding customer service to every family. He's extremely patient and unassuming -- just the kind of person you'd want as a role model for your kids -- and explained in detail how his program works so we can share it with you. Kalman started Game Game in 2004. He grew his program from a single after school youth basketball program location in Philadelphia into one of L.A's most popular summer day camps for kids. |
"I feel a personal responsibility to deliver a day camp experience for the kids that's second to none. "Our slogan is 'We Speak Kid,' meaning we understand and can relate to what today's campers want. We've designed a program with all kind of different activities , so no matter what your child is looking for in a summer camp, they'll find it here at Got Game Camp."
More than Just a Sports Camp
But don't let the name "Got Game" fool you.
"Sometimes families have the impression we're exclusively a sports camp based on the name 'Got Game,' Coach K said. "But we're so much more than that. We offer a diverse program so kids can enjoy whatever it is they'd most like to do." A diverse program is right. If your child loves sports, they won't be disappointed. Got Game offers every sport under the sun from football to hockey to soccer and basketball. But it's so much more than a sports camp experience. The Got Game program also includes water games and on-site surprise activities plus robotics, dance, science, arts and crafts, drama, theater, photography, technology. They even offer optional field trips every Friday for kids who want to experience an occasional off-site excursion or two.

You name the camp activity your child loves the most, and chances are, Got Game has it.
Flexible "Free Choice" Programming
"We're not a specialty-type day camp by any means," Kalman said, "mostly because we have so many activities to choose from. But our free choice activity format allows campers to basically specialize in certain activities if they want to".
Within the broader framework of the Got Game experience, campers can pick and choose their own activities any given day.
Counselors and coaches are strategically stationed at the various activity areas. Campers are encouraged to visit the various stations to enjoy as much or as little of the activities they want. Two 7-year old campers can attend camp the same day, for instance, and have two completely different camp experiences based on their respective activity preferences.
As parents ourselves, we like this modern and versatile approach to summer camp activity programming. What Kalman has done is create a number of optional specialty camp experiences under a traditional day camp umbrella. Good thinking! When campers have a say in their own camp experience, research shows they love it more. |
